The name Mäpt Hu-hutlu is derived from the Gnollish language, as Mäpt Hu-hutlu was founded by Sindiel vyim Rolɑrtɑyutsɪxt, who was culturaly Gnollish.
Climate
Mäpt Hu-hutlu has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 1°C (33°F). Mäpt Hu-hutlu receives an average of 255 cm/y (100 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Mäpt Hu-hutlu covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 2276 m (7467 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Mäpt Hu-hutlu was founded durring the late 11th century, by Sindiel vyim Rolɑrtɑyutsɪxt. The establishment of Mäpt Hu-hutlu suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the late 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Hu-hutlu is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu is is constructed arround a series of broad cobblestone mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. The town's millitarily questionable fortifications have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.
Right off the bat Mäpt Hu-hutlu hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Many of those buildings are schools, scriptoriums, and even one college. One can only wonder what knowledge the town has come into.
Civic Infrastructure
Mäpt Hu-hutlu has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Mäpt Hu-hutlu.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu has a Hall of Slayers, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mäpt Hu-hutlu's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Cultural Notes
While Mäpt Hu-hutlu might ostensibly be ruled by some other power, real control lies with the senior members of the local craft and labor guilds. Their decisions have the practical weight of law, and much of their time and effort is spent squeezing out competitors and parceling out economic opportunities in the community. Some guilds might have little or nothing to do with their original trade, and now exist purely as shells for political influence.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its fluid and florid elaborate style, comprising ornate, asymmetric designs and pastel shades. It is often considered to be a playful, light style, which made exuberant use of curves and emphasized subtle asymmetry in the general shape of its structures. Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.
In Mäpt Hu-hutlu snow is warm to the touch and does not melt within city limits. Also it only happens during summer.
The Babbler near Mäpt Hu-hutlu are known to be quite timid.
Mäpt Hu-hutlu's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves square dance to channel Necromancy energies of tier 3 via throat singing.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century Pond Lugano began to boil, and released a thick toxic cloud from beneath its waters which devastated , killing every person and animal in its path which could not escape the cloud. Oddly, the plants of the region flourished in the years after the disaster. An estimated people, livestock, and buildings were lost to the disaster. The disaster is referred to as the Agony Wind.
